A busted paw, a slow computer, books and the last week of school

I have so many things darting around in my mind lately, it's hard to put a finger on any one thing I want to share here.

And there's also the very real possibility that you'll become so bored you'll click onto something more interesting anyway.  But HERE GOES!

Meg has a great giveaway for a gift card at Target.  She talks about the 3M projector she got.  How fun would an outside movie party be this summer?!  I am loving that idea.  We talked about doing that for Sprite's birthday party this past fall, but then Adam had knee surgery and the idea sort of went on the (very) back burner.

Ruby got into a fight with a neighbor cat this weekend.  Her back paw is pretty torn up but other than that, I couldn't find any other wounds.  She was very scared and is staying inside more these days.  Of course, that didn't stop her from using the few minutes she did have outside today to swipe at a bee.  She now has a front paw that's at least twice the size of her others.

Adam and I went on a date.  !!!  It's our first "real" date since Christmas.  Why do we wait so long?  It was great, we went to a very nice restaurant in Vail Village (shoulder season specials--gotta love that) and our friends watched the kids.  Fabulous.

I originally started this post on my computer.  And then I spilled a bit of water on my keyboard!  It is now off and I won't turn it back on for a few days.  This means I'm using the 5 1/2 year old Mac.  Oh.my.  slllooooow as mOlasses, baby.  Please pray.  Just kidding.  Sort of.

It's the very last week of school and I AM SO READY.  I do believe this is absolutely the fastest year I have ever experienced in my life.  Do they all get faster?  If so, I can't imagine what it will be like in 10 years....20....30??  I suppose by then we may be retired and things will slow down a little.  But since I'm only 35, it's kickin'! (I actually just wrote 36, but corrected it because I am only 35.  What's wrong with me?)

I just got a call from my mom.  She and Dad are coming into town this Thursday and they don't want me to tell the kids.  How fun!  I would have loved it if my grandparents just showed up at the house one day!  I can't wait to see their faces.  I'll try to get pictures.

The kids gave me the most beautiful bouquet of flowers for Mother's day (yep, I get that Mom's day was last Sunday, I'm behind and I know it).

I just finished The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen by Syrie James.  I was fairly skeptical at first because it definitely had the potential to be sort of cheesy, but it was SO SO SO good.  If you love Jane Austen, read this.  It will make you want to reread her "real" works.  I'm now on The Lost Saints of Tennessee by Amy Franklin-Willis.  So far so good.  I'll update my Books page soon, I promise!

That's all my brain can handle right now.  Have a happy Tuesday!
