The trip that would not end

Originally, when we planned on traveling the 10 hours or so from our neck of the woods to our old stomping grounds (a.k.a. Vail to the Midwest), it didn't seem like that big of a deal. What's 10 hours in the car with three kids under the age of 7? We touted it as a "Road trip" to our kids.

Road trip!

Then I realized that it would most likely be more like 12 hours in the car with three kids under the age of 7 who might feel a little stir crazy. The deal got a little bit bigger.

After that, the point came that one of our kids had a whopping cold. Bigger deal. Pretty soon, we were three hours into our 12 hour car, er, road trip and I realized what fools we were. Not only that, but we would be adding another 2 hours to our return trip because of the extra 120 miles east we were heading on Friday. What were we thinking?!

Now, it is Thanksgiving afternoon. My head is clearer, thanks to the wonderful nap I was able to partake in this beautiful day. Thank you very much. And, I'm thinking that the 12/14 hour Road trip might not be so bad after all

Live and learn. Right?

Please don't think I'm being anti-social with my sweet family by blogging on this holiday. Rest assured that we are actually celebrating tomorrow. While the masses are flooding the stores for deals, we will be carving our turkey and mashing our potatoes. All 18 of us.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
