Top of the Rockies

I was feeling a bit under the weather last weekend, so we decided to take an easy drive up over the Top of the Rockies. It was beautiful. Adam was so sweet to stop every 2 minutes so I could jump out and take pictures of all the beautiful golden Aspens and Cottonwoods lining the mountains.

So I did. And it was every 2 minutes. Poor guy. He had no idea what he was getting into when he told the woman he loves with her new Nikon D40 to just let him know whenever she wanted him to pull over. But, true to his word, there was no complaining, even by the 20th stop.

The sun was shining when we started out, and by the time we made it to Leadville, the clouds were taking over.

So, we stopped in Leadville for a bit. We got fudge (chocolate will be my downfall) and the kids played at a park. If you can call two rusted, bouncy horses a park. The town did, so it must be.
Overall, a gorgeous day. A gorgeous drive. And these golden colors won't be here for long. It was so nice to enjoy them while we can. Before the white.
